Google Wave Invite Haiku Contest

by Uniquely Cool on October 1, 2009

I just got signed up on Google Wave and have 6 invites I’d like to give away.  I started to give them away, but got more requests so I thought… to be fair I’ll make it fun and have a little contest.  Want to win an invite?  Here’s how…

To enter, leave a Haiku in the comment box below about why you want a Google Wave invite.  The best 6 Google Wave Haikus will win.  I’ll choose the winners at 1 p.m. Eastern time on October 1, 2009.  Good luck!

BONUS ENTRY if you ReTweet this contest!

WINNERS TO BE ANNOUNCED VERY SHORTLY…. STAY TUNED!

Haiku Winners are…. Clayton, Dain, Max, Daorenlai, Philipp and Swabie.  Sending invites out now… they may not be sent out by the Big G immediately so please be patient.

Here's my Haiku (a rather serious one):

People want to wave,
how ironic, don't you think?
Think of Sumatra!

In fact it's my first one :) However, I saw the news this morning and many many people died in Sumatra because of, well, water waves… Sad story and greatly ironic in my opinion.

the wave of my inbox.

Christoph October 1, 2009 at 12:23 am

ok, my ebay comment wasn't a haiku, so here it is:

If I'd get an invitation
no one hold a demonstration
because I'd use wave every day
and not sell it on ebay

I must, with regret,
inform you that the above
ain't haiku either.

Dain October 1, 2009 at 1:11 am

Wave seems really cool.
It smells bad when it's rotten.
Otherwise, it's good.

Christoph October 1, 2009 at 1:52 am

damn, you're right… Here is now my hopefully correct haiku:

I would like surfing
never sell it on ebay
the holy google wave

Christoph October 1, 2009 at 1:55 am

oh no, that wasn't 5-7-5… sorry for spamming, last try ;-)

I would like surfing
never sell it on ebay
the great google wave

grinaldo October 1, 2009 at 3:31 am

The Obvious Haiku:
==================
The might of the web
I desire on one screen
a gift from uniquely cool

The Metaphysical Haiku:
=======================
The screen recedes!
The web waves!
Ah! My current desire!

More Metaphysical Haiku
=======================
white death is true
devious eloctronic beats
a scream enters the wave

wave-weaver October 1, 2009 at 4:46 am

Oh mighty Wave, sweep
me away to unknown lands,
enthrall, surprise me :) .

P.S.: This is much better than having to follow you on twitter or something, haiku contests FTW :) :) :) .

When I win the prize?

Clayton Hughes October 1, 2009 at 9:58 am

Oh, for fuck's sake, guys
How do I stop comment spam?
My inbox explodes.

Brett October 1, 2009 at 10:59 am

The wave is calling,
My thoughts begging to be shared,
I just need the key

Max October 1, 2009 at 1:14 pm

“Michael is typing…”
Too vague an instant message.
Wave shows real time type.

Duda October 1, 2009 at 5:05 pm

Max October 2, 2009 at 9:49 am

1 P-M Oct. first
Has come, gone, no winners named.
Baited breath waning.

swabie October 2, 2009 at 12:33 pm

Thanks Uniquely Cool! Haven't received anything from Google yet, but i think that is to be expected.

Dain October 2, 2009 at 3:43 pm

Pacing back and forth,
Eagerly awaiting Wave…
Can't come soon enough!

Loser October 2, 2009 at 4:03 pm

Hmmm some of the winners you chose didnt even follow what you asked. You asked for a Haiku about why you want an invite. Daorenlai was about shopping, Clayton was about being quick to reply and spam, and swabie just said that wave released. Oh well, congrats to the winners..

Philipp October 3, 2009 at 1:00 am

Have you heard the news?
I am in on google wave,
will I be alone?

Thanks uniquely cool, now let's hope google sends these invites asap!

Alex Perry October 3, 2009 at 12:01 pm

haha I'm stunned some of these people won, they had nothing to do with anything
